There is something distinctly different about images made on film. In this gallery you will find a selection of some of my favorite images, made both in session and on the street, all on both 35mm and 120. Every time that I think I can walk away from making photos using old film cameras I realize that this is the root of what brought me to photography, this process feels electric to me, it is foundational to how I make images. There is so much to love about film photography: the thrill of revelation, the tension of waiting for scans to come back from the lab, how it feels like Christmas every single time. Using film (vs. digital) forces us to slow down. We can’t just rapid fire shoot and burn, we have to take our time, be intentional, hold space, and savor these moments. It took me years to work up the courage to bring my film cameras to professional shoots, and now I won’t show up to a session without them.
