Hello 2019, you are quite the trickster

Welcome to 2019, now we have just entered February, my birthday month and things have been going, well, um, not so smoothly. Just as I was finding my stride here, working a steady job, while also filling my calendar with teaching, dance performance, and photography gigs as well as starting to look at summer and fall weddings, a thing happened. I injured myself, really, really seriously. A torn medial meniscus, as well as a devastatingly torn ACL. So, for the last three weeks I have been incapacitated. I cannot bend or straighten my leg more than a small degree, I cannot walk, I cannot drive a car. we have been to urgent care and doctors and orthopedic surgeons, I have had x rays and MRIs. This week I will be going in for reconstructive surgery to hopefully put things back into order so that I can start physical therapy and get on my way to functioning again.

It has been humbling to say the least. So, quite suddenly I have found myself without a job and all of the things I have lined up for myself are dependent on my physical wellness. I have never had an injury of this magnitude before. I have always danced, participated in sports, and lived as a very, very physical person. My doctors are being realistic with me, which is to say, there is a chance that I will be able to do all of these things again, and there is also a chance that I will not. There is no way to know until we are there. I also realized how incredibly lucky I am. This is a setback, yes, but I will heal, and there are many people in this world who cannot say that. I am so thankful for all of the support we have received so far. From meals, to donations, to kind words at all hours of the night. It means so much, every little bit of it. If you’d like to help we could really use it right now, I plan on spending the rest of my life making good on all of this.

Here is our GoFundMe - (Link no longer active - thank you for your support.)

Best,

Kerry
