New events for Spring 2018!
Dancers, friends, dear ones...SPRING IS HERE and I have been loving the change in seasons. The pace of things begins to pick up as getting out and around town gets easier and easier. Goodbye snowsuits, pants, hats, gloves, and mittens. Adios to piles of boots and grit accumulating in our entryways. Farewell to the trying and failing to keep toddlers and babies from being cooped up and going stir crazy. So long to the cold, cold misery that seeps into our cores, stiffening our muscles and shivering our bones. Hello Spring… you marvelous thing, you! Glad to have you back in the fold.
Well, this past winter I kept myself busy with a community performance project at The Living Room Dance Collective in South Portland - thank you to all of you who came out and danced during the darkest time of the year, it meant so much to me and made the time really fly by. And now it is on to the next project: May 27, 2018, through June 17, 2018, I will be teaching a four-week modern dance series titled “Multilayered Modern” at The Living Room (408 Broadway, South Portland, ME) every Sunday from 1:00-3:00 pm ET.
I’d love for you to join me, I can’t wait to dive in and get moving with you. During every class we will:
Connect with breath.
Ground ourselves.
Explore guided movement.
Practice classical “modern” technique and experiment with applying it to our own bodies.
Tune in and sense our multi-layered physical selves.
Use fundamentals of modern dance to help us articulate our movement.
Learn choreography.
Experience how moving fully can alter our perceptions of our body.
Sense, discover, improvise, and experiment.
Sweat it out.
Leave everything on the dance floor.
Every class is open and welcomes drop-in students. The choreography will develop from week to week, culminating in a long-phrase composition that we will manipulate in class. Participating in the whole series is encouraged but not required.
Feel free to send me any questions that you may have and I can’t wait to see you in the studio!
